Before we get into it, look! I got my ear re-bedazzled by Brian at Body Electric Tattoo (who also did my nose piercing way back when). Longtime readers might recall that I’ve been going to Brian for years; he’s truly an artist, and the BEST at what he does. (The re-bedazzling is because my body apparently enjoys rejecting cartilage piercings — like literally ejecting them from my body — and yet I continue to desire them with the heat of a thousand suns, sue me.) If you’re in LA, you should go — and IMO just tell him your budget and let him do what he wants; he has a fantastic eye.
A couple more random and recent discoveries:
If you’re a fan of Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneer Town (outside of Palm Springs) there is a campground literally fifty feet away where you can stay for easy access to great food (the smashed cheeseburgerrrrr), a super-fun bar scene, and fantastic live music. Pics of my one-night bday adventure with the BF are here.
Currently reading: Wellness, by Nathan Hill. If you enjoyed Fleishman Is In Trouble and Long Island Compromise, you’ll adore this — technically about a marriage in its death throes, but really about our collective desire to live whatever it is that constitutes a “good” life. Highly recommended.
My daughter is all-about air-drying her curls lately — love this for her — and it was so fun to get to show her mama’s tutorial.
Now, on to the “Yikes” part. I’m paywalling the bulk of this post because a) not all of you care about my health updates, which is, ah, more than understandable, and b) not all of you want to see photographic evidence of the situation on my arm that’s been causing me untold grief over the past month (also extremely understandable).
But! In the event that you do care and that it *might* be useful information for some of you down the line — hey, I would have personally enjoyed having some functional knowledge of this condition before acquiring it — here is what’s been going on. (Please do not continue reading if you don’t want to see some quite gross pics. You have been warned.)
