A Very Basic Thing I Do Not Possess
I thought I'd take you with me to resolve the situation.
Fun fact: I have no eyebrows. I mean, technically they’re there, but…mehhhh. It was only when I was about 35 that I finally realized what every makeup artist I’d ever worked with had been telling me for years, which is that eyebrows are everything, and started putting a little effort in – but I’ve never loved the look of powdered brows, and have always very much wanted some more shape than my limited skills are capable of achieving.
My mom gets microblading done, though, as do a few of my friends, and so – despite the fact that a tattoo ON MY FACE sounded like a distinctly terrible idea – I booked an appointment.
And?
…Just watch the video. I was blown. Away.
Now, it’s been…maybe five years since I first tried microblading? I’d say the effect I liked lasted about a year (not three), and I have now returned to my standard eyebrow-free state. I don’t currently have the funds for…well, anything not in those lower two levels of Maslow’s Hierarchy, so microblading is out for the moment (thanks, shockingly shitty United States healthcare system!), so here are the products I’m currently using:
Best Drugstore: NYX Pro Micro Brow Pencil. It’s $8. And works great. Done.
Best for Experienced Users: Urban Decay Brow Blade Eyebrow Pen + Waterproof Pencil. A little intimidating if you’ve never tried painting on individual hairs, but the results (with a little practice) are phenomenal.
Best Refillable: Charlotte Tilbury Brow Cheat Eyebrow Pencil. Flawless, glide-on application…and a money-saver — you can buy refillable pigment.
Best Booster: Glossier Boy Brow. Not enough pigment for solo use IMO, but I layer it over a pencil or powder to add volume and texture.
But I’m curious: If you’ve tried microblading, would you do it again? Or did you go back to your daily-use products (which are what? tell me!)? Or just give up because you’ve finally reached the DGAF stage of life?
That’s all!
Looks FAB!
Jordan. I'm worried about you. What's going on with your finances? Is it from the fires? Do you qualify for any assistance?
