When I decided to restart Ramshackle Glam just a few weeks ago, part of the reason was that my website…well, it no longer really functioned. It was a behemoth with twenty bazillion images and pages and videos, and it kept crashing or loading impossibly slowly or generating weird porn-y, spam-y links and such, which: no. I looked into exporting the entirety of the content, but ultimately decided that the best thing to do would be to work with a shitty company that would take a bunch of my money and then do literally nothing that they said they were going to, resulting in a completely blank website. (I don’t want to talk about it.)
Anyway. I was extremely stressed about losing well over a decade’s worth of content. And then I thought about that content, and realized that come on, a solid percentage of it was about, like, handbags. There’s good stuff, but you have to sift through a lot in order to get to it. So I figured that this rebrand-of-sorts presented an opportunity to cull through my site and see what was really worth keeping around for posterity. (I’ll be adding to the archive constantly — only with said “good stuff” — so make sure to subscribe if you want access to it all.)
Which brings me to these videos.
These are not, in my opinion, necessarily my *best* videos. They are, however — for various, sometimes wholly inexplicable reasons — my all-time most popular. (If you scroll to the end, you can see the actual best video I have ever made in my entire life. Ever.)
Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we?
My 1998 YooHoo commercial got picked up by an It’s Always Sunny Reddit thread. Or at least I think it did, because otherwise I have no idea why hundreds of thousands of people wanted to see this.
Meeeeemories. There was a time, around 2012, when I decided that Ramshackle Glam should basically be The Mason Jar Blog. It was at this point that I made a little video showing how to dye mason jars blue, and apparently became The Official Internet Expert on Blue Mason Jars. Hey, everyone’s got something.
I technically did this as a sponsored video for the release of an 80s-themed movie…but come on. It was objectively amazing.
This is a poorly shot video, but honestly just such a good hairdo. And you can do it! I swear.
Personal family classic, JFC.
Smudging is actually a really nice thing to do at the start of a new year. You know, if you happen to have a bunch of dried sage laying around. (…Which I actually…do.)
This isn’t the most glamorous video I’ve ever made, but if you’ve ever wondered what, exactly, a BBL laser treatment entails…it’s pretty informative.
Here is a commercial in which teeny-tiny baby me makes fun of a girl named Jane for committing the unforgivable sin of eating Frosted Flakes.
Baby me again, aw. (You definitely remember this one if you were sentient in the ‘90s.)
And finally, this video diary of the breast augmentation process. (I blushed through pretty much the entire thing.)
Now, as a gift to you: Here is the actual best video I have ever made.
As we barrel towards the second half of the (IMO) Actual Most Insane Year Yet, let us all be this girl: giving zero fucks and living our very best life. Especially if that involves blatantly ignoring authority figures and rolling around on the floor wearing tulle.
Evolving and reorienting and showing up. We can move past handbags and distressed denim and be vulnerable and authentic. You’ve always owned that lane, Jordan. 👏🏼
